How to solve an anagram
- Type the scrambled letters without spaces or punctuation.
- Use ? for an unknown letter, if your puzzle allows one.
- Press Find words. Every result uses exactly the same number of letters as your input.
- Use starting or ending letters to narrow the options when the puzzle gives an extra clue.
Worked example: LISTEN
LISTEN can be rearranged into silent, enlist, tinsel and inlets. Each uses L, I, S, T, E and N once. LISTEN itself can also appear because it meets the same letter rule. LIST is not a full anagram because E and N are left over.
How repeated letters and blanks work
For LETTER, a result must contain two Es and two Ts, plus one L and one R. Having a letter somewhere in the input does not make it available an unlimited number of times. With LISTE?, the blank can become N to form SILENT. A blank occupies exactly one letter in each full anagram.
Can this solve phrase anagrams?
This tool finds single alphabetic words between 2 and 15 letters. It does not split results into phrases or sentence anagrams. To find shorter words from the same letters, use the word finder and unscrambler.
What if there are no anagrams?
